چکیده

A 77-year-old Haitian woman complained of two months history of cough and left upper quadrant abdominal pain. She had a remote history of tuberculosis that was treated back in Haiti many years ago. Imaging studies showed a left pleural effusion with posterior pleural thickening as well as lymphadenopathy in the left hilum and left supraclavicular area. The Pleural biopsy was consistent with extranodal marginal zone lymphoma of mucosa associated lymphoid tissue (EMZL/MALT). The supraclavicular lymph node also showed partial involvement by EMZL/MALT but was largely effaced by non-necrotizing granulomatous inflammation. Culture from this lymph node grew Mycobacterium tuberculosis complex. Primary pleural lymphoma is a rare entity and to the best of our knowledge only ten cases of pleural EMZL/MALT have been reported. We report a new case and a review of literature. *Corresponding author: Anita Malek, 670 Albany Street, Boston, MA 02118 Phone: 1-617-414-3725 E-mail: [email protected] Case Report

Low-Grade Extranodal Marginal Zone B Cell Lymphoma of Malt in the Kidney

Primary renal lymphomas are very rare since renal involvement by the disease is most often a manifestation of disseminated disease. We report an 88-year-old man with low-grade extranodal marginal zone B cell lymphoma of mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue (MALT) (MALT lymphoma) arising in the kidney. After the workup, the patient was thought to have renal cell carcinoma and underwent partial neph...

CT-guided needle biopsy in the diagnosis of lung adenocarcinoma accompanied by extranodal marginal zone lymphoma of mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue: a rare combination.

We represent a rare case of lung adenocarcinoma accompanied by extranodal marginal zone lymphoma of mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue (MALT). The patient was a 66-year-old male presented with 1 month history of recurrent cough and hemoptysis. Chest CT showed solitary ground-glass opacity (GGO) in the upper lobe of the right lung and mediastinal lymph node enlargement in station 3p. A CT-guided ...

Primary extranodal marginal zone Bcell lymphoma of hard palate: A case report

Introduction: MALT (mucosa associated lymphoid tissue) lymphomas comprise a heterogeneous group, originally thought to be derived from the marginal zone Bcells that are found surrounding Bcell follicles and within the adjacent lymphoepithelium. They arise most commonly in extranodal organs such as the stomach, major salivary glands and thyroid. Thus, they can be precisely described as extrano...

Mucosa-Associated Lymphoid Tissue (MALT) Lymphoma

Extranodal marginal zone lymphoma of mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue (MALT lymphoma) is an extranodal lymphoma composed of morphologically heterogeneous small B-cells including marginal zone (centrocyte-like) cells, cells resembling monocytoid cells, small lymphocytes, and scattered immunoblasts and centroblast-like cells. There is plasma cell differentiation in a proportion of the cases. The...
